Gardening Excitement

Well Monday Piper and I planted 69 tomato seeds:

Rutgers
Gina's
and Brandywine for sauce

Rose de Berne, mystery seed and sweet cherry toms that started in our garden in Lyons, WI back around 2001. It is really fun to keep seeds going, we have been eating the same cherry tomatoes ever since. It's cool to think the kids will eat the same fruits for the rest of their lives (unless we find better) and some day I will pass on seeds to them for their garden.

Today we (the kids and I) cleaned out a section of the basement and hung 4 - 48" lights with 2 full spectrum bulbs in each. I can't wait till there are little tiny sprouts down there. It feels so alive.

Daniels 3 Morning Glorys are up but not the Celosia. He has a dozen red roses in the kitchen. He just wanted one but we hadn't found red ones at any of the local markets, they were only sold in dozens or arrangements. I tried to steer him away from them cause I knew dad didn't really want to buy a dozen. He just whimpered so pitifully and broken hearted that I looked back at Mike and he conceded. I have never seen a 6 year old so excited to have his very own dozen roses.
